Can I Use AI For My Social Media Platforms?
Unfortunately, AI is still a hot topic, not just in the marketing world but in the general sense as well. If you are like me, you’re getting burnt out on AI videos and photos clogging up your social media feeds. As someone in the social media marketing arena, I see the benefits of using a few AI tools here and there to streamline your process; however, when I do, it’s hard to get past the guilt of depleting resources.
Since it is getting increasingly hard to ignore, can you use AI alongside social media?
Do’s & Don’ts of AI in Social Media
Speaking of getting burnt out, keeping up with social media algorithms and what’s trending can be equally exhausting as AI-generated content. If you want to use AI tools to help streamline your process, here are some dos and don’ts for using AI in your Social Media process.
Dos: How to use AI responsibly for social media content
Brainstorming content and post ideas – Sometimes, the most draining part of social media is coming up with ideas. If you need a quick brainstorming session, using AI can help. Keep in mind that AI isn’t coming up with something original; it still needs your unique spin.
Repurposing your content – Need to reword something quickly or adjust it for a different platform. AI can do this quickly for you. However, double-check that it sounds like your brand’s voice.
Creating an outline for your content – This is along the same line as using AI to help you brainstorm. If you need a quick way to outline your content for the month, this can be a helpful tool.
Scheduling content – Automating routine tasks like scheduling posts or generating reports is a safe way to use AI in your tasks. This can free up your time for things that require a human voice.
Don’ts: Common Mistakes and what to Avoid When using AI in social media content
Don’t use it to create your graphics – Just don’t. We can tell when you are using Generative AI from start to finish on your graphics. With tools like Canva, there is no reason to ask ChatGPT to create a graphic for you.
Don’t use AI to create photos. It’s tempting to use AI when you are slacking on taking job-site photos; however, posting AI-created photos will decrease your credibility with customers and clients.
Don’t just copy and paste – If you need help outlining a caption, start there. Copying and pasting an AI response removes your brand’s voice from the post.
Don’t rely solely on AI chatbots to respond to customers – If you want to automate easy FAQs, that is a good use for AI, but the quickest way to lead to customer frustration is being unable to talk to a real person when they have a question or concern.
All of these don’ts have one major thing in common: using too much AI decreases your credibility and trustworthiness with customers and clients. Customers and clients want to see real technicians on the job and hear your unique voice on social media.
